Military Child
Care In Your Neighborhood
Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood is a
NACCRRA and Department of Defense (DoD) program designed to help
Service Members locate quality child care and provide them with
fee assistance. The program is designed to support Service
Members who can't access DoD's on-base child care programs due
to long installation waiting lists or Service Members'
assignments away from military installations. The amount of fee
assistance varies by family and depends on factors such as total
family income, family circumstances, prevailing local fees, DoD
child care fee policies and available funding.
How it Works:
|
For Military
Families |
For Child
Care Providers |
| The Service member, spouse, or legal
guardian contacts Child Care Aware, a division of
NACCRRA, to determine eligibility. |
NACCRRA staff work with providers already caring for
children of military families to become qualified for
the program. |
| NACCRRA staff collects information from
the Service or family member to determine eligibility
and specific child care needs. |
Once approved, NACCRRA pays providers a regular
direct deposit of a portion of the Service Members'
child care fees that does not reduce their existing
child care rates. |
| Callers are referred to local Child Care
Resource and Referral agencies for availability of
quality child care options. |

on-base options. Fee assistance varies by family and is
influenced by factors such as total family income, geographical
location, military child care fee policies, available funding,
and family circumstances.
